Reporting is a crucial part of any project work. Different tasks require different kinds of reporting. When working on any wireless or wired project I usually have to go through different iterations. Reports can include lots of content, such as text and graphics. This can make some reports large, 10 MB or more. This leads to challenges in sending these files.
- Can’t email because large attachments aren’t allowed
- Need to share it through Drop box, Box.com or One Drive.
- If you are using Microsoft One Drive you may not be allowed to share outside the organization.
I have never been a fan of attaching and sending large files through email.
Hamina Network Planner solves the issue
Like some other challenges, Hamina solved this issue as well based on the user feedback and I absolutely love how they do it.
Project Sharing:
First I can share my project. Even if you aren’t a Hamina customer you can create a free account and can collaborate on the project. All you need is the email of the person.

If the person does not have a Hamina subscription, what they will get is the basic mode. Which allows you to accomplish the following:
- Upload a floor plan
- Scale the floor plan
- Add notes
- Draw in and out of scope zones
- Client View

Report Templates:
Since we may need reports for multiple tasks and multiple groups of people; for example, you may be creating a report for your customer, creating a predictive report, or creating something for the low voltage vendor. Hamina Network Planner allows you to create multiple reports.

This is great, but I have so many customers and so many sites and I don’t want to have to keep creating these reports. This is where report templates come in.

I created a site and called it Templates. Within that site, I ended up creating multiple templates for different tasks with certain views and content. Now, every time I need to generate a report I simply choose one of the templates and create a new report.

Sharing a report is an easy process. Open the report and click on the “Share” button.

Type in a password and click on “Create Links”. This will create a link that can be provided to any one along with the password so that they can

Feel free to check out a sample report using the following credentials. Thank God for not having to deal with PDF attachments. NOTE: Hamina Network Planner will have a PDF download option as well if you want to go that route.
