I finally got some Aruba gear for my lab and as part of getting stuff online, I’m going to do a few, “What’s in the box posts?” so if anyone is looking to purchase any of this gear, hopefully it will be helpful to understand what all is included. Keep an eye out for some hands on AOS10, Central posts.
First one is Aruba 6300-F 24 port switch, part number (JL666A).

Switch Features:
- 24 x 1 Gig PoE+ Ports
- 4 x 1/10/25/50 Gig SFP ports
- These ports can also be used for stacking.
- NOTE: Looks like port 25/26 on 24 models can be used for VSF and other two for uplinks.
- PoE/PoE+ Budget is 370W, so up to 12 ports can do PoE+.
- 10 Member stacking (although I personally do not recommend creating a stack that big, I always like to split them into two 5 and 5).
- In the picture above you can see a small USB adapter, this adapter can be used with Aruba BluConsole to configure the switch. This is a really awesome feature because I don’t have to worry about grabbing my console cable. I’ve never used this feature before so looking forward to testing this out.
- I won’t go to much into any further details because datasheet has good information on all the features and you can read it here.

Notice that there is no old style console port, there is a Management port, Aux Port which is USB (this is where you connect the USB Console Adapter and there is a USB-C Console port. I’ll need to see if this USB-C console port requires a special USB cable like Aruba APs or any will work.
Final Thoughts:
I like the 4 x 50 Gig ports for stacking or uplink. Switch offers some impressive switching capacity numbers. Using BluConsole to configure the switch sounds pretty awesome, so looking forward to trying that out.
